FUEL CONSUMPTION CALCULATION

How to calculate the fuel consumption of your car?
Your vehicle's fuel consumption may vary from the estimates provided by your vehicle's manufacturer. Vehicle conditions and style of driving, among other factors, can influence mileage and fuel consumption of your car. It is always a good idea to get an actual mileage reading for your vehicle so that you will be able to monitor changes in your driving pattern or if your vehicle is developing problems. You might be unsure of how to get the actual mileage. The steps below will provide you the baseline for you to calculate your vehicle's fuel consumption. There are a few methods for calculating fuel consumption, namely KM/L, RM/KM, and KM/Tank. The most direct way to get mileage reading is KM/L (kilometer / liter).

Calculate your vehicle's fuel consumption by collecting the mileage (KM) reading. The steps include:

  1. Filling up your vehicle's fuel tank till it is completely full.
  2. Resetting your trip meter, or record the master odometer mileage. Your ISUZU D-MAX is equipped with “Trip A" or “Trip B” readings, you can reset either one.
  3. Driving your vehicle as you normally would, and let your fuel tank deplete to at least half tank.
  4. Going to the petrol station and refilling your tank again until it’s full. Record the AMOUNT OF FUEL (in Liters), TOTAL PAYMENT (RM) and the DISTANCE (in Kilometers). The distance is shown by your trip meter or by subtracting the original master odometer with the new reading.
Calculation:
To get your vehicle's fuel consumption in KM/L

This result will be your vehicle's average Kilometer/Liter yield for that driving period.
For example: 1000KM / 48.34liters = 20.69KM/L
Or, you could calculate in RM/KM

For example: RM76.52/ 1000KM = RN0.08/KM
This result will be your vehicle's average RM/KM yield for that driving period.
