KUCHING - KOTA KINABALU Fuel Efficiency Run

ISUZU D-MAX proves it again !
Isuzu Malaysia has done it again. It has proven beyond a doubt that the Isuzu D-Max is one of the most economical vehicles to own and drive today. And this is not just the 2.5L 4x2 version that proved itself in a fuel efficiency test last November when it achieved over 1,400km using less than its 76-litre tank capacity of diesel.
This time, the powerful and versatile 3.0L version proved its amazing ability to sip fuel too when it joined a 2.5-litre D-Max on a journey from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu, a distance of 1,290km across some of the most rugged terrain in the region using just one tank of diesel.
The 3.0L, the only 3-litre pick up in the country and one of the most powerful in the market, proved to be the gentle giant when it arrived in Kota Kinabalu to a tumultuous welcome on a bright and sunny Sunday morning on May 14, 2006.
The Max Fuel Efficiency Run was initiated by Isuzu Malaysia to gauge if it could take the Isuzu D-Max on the roads between the two state capitals maintaining speeds of about 80km/h across mountain ranges, dozens of rivers and ten border crossings without refuelling, a challenge locals deem virtually impossible.
With an Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) official ensuring that the vehicles were driven throughout the journey without refuelling, the two trucks even encountered a major snag nearing Bintulu when the rear tyre of the 3.0L suffered a puncture and needed replacement.
At the end of the drive, the 2.5L used just 58.06 litres of diesel while the 3.0L took on 62.92 litres of fuel when it arrived in Kota Kinabalu. At current fuel prices, that figure works out to be a cost of an amazing RM 0.07 and RM 0.08 per kilometre respectively.
With this drive, Isuzu Malaysia has proven yet again that the Isuzu D-Max may just be the sensible solution to the problem of rising fuel prices today.
