Fuel Consumption Calculation
How to calculate the fuel consumption of your car?
Your vehicle's fuel consumption may vary from the estimates provided by your vehicle's manufacturer. Vehicle conditions and style of driving, among other factors, can influence mileage and fuel consumption of your car. It is always a good idea to get an actual mileage reading for your vehicle so that you will be able to monitor changes in your driving pattern or if your vehicle is developing problems. You might be unsure of how to get the actual mileage. The steps below will provide you the baseline for you to calculate your vehicle's fuel consumption. There are a few methods for calculating fuel consumption, namely KM/L, RM/KM, and KM/Tank. The most direct way to get mileage reading is KM/L (kilometer / liter).
Calculate your vehicle's fuel consumption by collecting the mileage (KM) reading. The steps include:
- Filling up your vehicle's fuel tank till it is completely full.
- Resetting your trip meter, or record the master odometer mileage. Your ISUZU D-MAX is equipped with “Trip A" or “Trip B” readings, you can reset either one.
- Driving your vehicle as you normally would, and let your fuel tank deplete to at least half tank.
- Going to the petrol station and refilling your tank again until it’s full. Record the AMOUNT OF FUEL (in Liters), TOTAL PAYMENT (RM) and the DISTANCE (in Kilometers). The distance is shown by your trip meter or by subtracting the original master odometer with the new reading.
Calculation:
To get your vehicle's fuel consumption in KM/L
This result will be your vehicle's average Kilometer/Liter yield for that driving period.
For example: 1000KM / 48.34liters = 20.69KM/L
Or, you could calculate in RM/KM
For example: RM76.52/ 1000KM = RN0.08/KM
This result will be your vehicle's average RM/KM yield for that driving period.
DRIVE EFFICIENTLY WITH ISUZU D-MAX
Isuzu is committed to produce the best diesel products of the highest quality and will continuously preserve the global environmental through diesel technologies. We believe your vehicle fuel efficiency can be boosted by regular periodical vehicle maintenance and conscious attention to your style of driving. Here are some tips on fuel efficient driving. These can save you hundreds of Ringgit a year in fuel cost, and you can help preserving global environment.
-
Check the tyre pressures regularly
Make sure your tyres are properly inflated according to the recommendation to reduce rolling resistance. Keep your Isuzu D-Max tire pressure at 29 psi (Front ) and 32 psi (rear ).
-
Avoid aggresive driving
Avoid rapid starts and hard braking. Accelerate gently and smoothly, then get into high gear as quickly as possible. Maintain engine speed at sensible ranges to avoid over-revving especially during gear changes that will in turn waste more fuel.
-
Select the right gear
For manual transmissions, change up through the gears and into top gear as soon as possible without accelerating harder then necessary. Driving in a gear lower than you need wastes fuel. Automatic transmissions will shift up more quickly and smoothly if you ease back slightly on the accelerator once the car gathers momentum.
- Drive at a steady speed
Most vehicles posses a certain steady speed ranges that if cautiously adhered to will result in good fuel consumption. The best fuel-efficient speed range for the Isuzu D-Max is between 60km/hr to 80km/hr while maintaining the engine RPM at the range of 1500 to 2000. Driving at speeds MORE or LESS than this bracket could result in less kilometers traveled for the same amount of fuel burned.
- Think "aerodynamic" and "lightweight"
Keep windows all rolled up to reduce drag. Remove excess weight or unnecessary items from inside the vehicle or cargo bed. Regularly wash, polish and keep your D-Max clean to keep the aerodynamics of the car at top notch!
- Service your vehicle regularly
Never miss out on your scheduled maintenance service according to the service manuals provided. Send your vehicle to your nearest Isuzu Malaysia Authorized Service Centre to get the best technical know-how and most important, to get Isuzu Genuine Parts. Always remember - those who raise you will know you the best.
